My Students

Working as a Baltimore City Public School Teacher, resources are scarce. Every year the budget for art supplies is cut due to budgetary constraints.

I work at a city-charter school.

We are developing a fine arts program that serves the students in our district. The school community has to sacrifice a lot financially to make this happen. Our students deserve to experience the arts as well as traditional school experiences. My school services sixth through twelfth grade. Most of my students come from impoverished neighborhoods.

My Project

My students will participate in a mural program within the school building. All art teachers are aware of the fact that students run through supplies. That is a good thing, however, you are in constant need for more. We will beautify the school community with murals designed by students. By getting a new set of brushes students will be able to more fully participate in the mural project. Without a variety of new brushes to work with students will not have the opportunity to contribute to the school community and broaden their artistic experience.

The aesthetic quality of a school can effect learning.

Our mission is to positively affect the school's environment. We want our students to feel like they attend an art school. The school culture will benefit greatly from this endeavor.
