Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Out of all classroom supplies, I believe that computer paper and chart paper are the two most important. My students rely heavily on visuals and displays that are posted all around the classroom that they can refer back to when they need help. Every lesson I teach uses a piece of chart paper and is later posted in the classroom so students can refer back to it. Afterwards, I always design/print a binder-size visual for students to have in their binders as a support (aid) for their work.

Additionally, this year, at my Title I school, where asking for supplies from parents and or the school board can be difficult, we are teaching from a brand-new reading program.

This reading program uses an array of differentiated, leveled texts and graphic organizers in which students can chart important information from a text to help them better understand what is is about. This reading program uses a lot of computer paper. With this computer paper, I will be able to print out all the differentiated supports, graphic organizers, texts, assessments, and even grammar practice that many, if not all, of my students will benefit from.

My students have a specific part of their reading section of their binders in which they keep all of their reading skill visuals. For example, we have made visual supports for an array of reading skills including how to find the central idea, figurative language, causes and effect, problem and solution, and chronological order. These visuals are used every day!
