My Students

My school serves the biggest population of middle school students in Kentucky. Enrollment is roughly 1,400 and I teach 15% of the population. My students have a lot of creativity and are learning real life connections through music and technology.

My students are incredible people who are making a difference in this world.

They come from all walks of life and learn to work together and become a family. Our school has a rich tradition of excellence and the music program is one of the key courses that make our school such a great place to learn. My students continually raise the bar and in doing so I must reach higher as their teacher.

My Project

I am requesting 1 MacBook computer to capture, edit, share, upload student made videos to our YouTube Channel. We also need 1 AppleTV and 1 HDMI cable to stream to TV. The students will use the materials requested by creating weekly videos to publish on our class YouTube channel. These videos will be student lead and promote leadership and a mastery of content knowledge. Our aim is to go beyond the classroom hours for learning and motivate students to grow at home as a student. We believe by creating these videos to share with our classroom, we will unleash our creative spirit and increase our level of performance.

Our project has nothing to do with standardized tests or what you see on paper.

It has everything to do with hands-on, student-lead learning. Our students will learn to work together and create meaningful connections. These videos will be something they can view over and over again. Furthermore, they will remember working on these videos throughout their life... and that, is priceless.
