My Project

Crochet for Change is an innovative project designed to empower middle school students by teaching them the art of crocheting while fostering social responsibility. Participants will learn the life skill of crocheting, which not only enhances fine motor skills and patience but also provides them with a creative outlet. The project's primary goal is to create handmade blankets to contribute to Project Linus—a nationwide initiative dedicated to providing comfort to children and families facing health crises, homelessness, and hunger.

The initiative is built on the belief that seemingly small acts can have a significant social impact.

By engaging in this hands-on activity, students from diverse backgrounds will learn about the importance of community service and social empathy. The process of creating a blanket, stitch by stitch, reinforces the idea that collective efforts, no matter how modest, can lead to meaningful change. It also instills a sense of pride and accomplishment, as each student takes home a tangible product of their hard work and dedication.

Beyond the development of technical skills, Crochet for Change aims to nurture a community-minded spirit. Students will experience first-hand how sharing their newly acquired skills and compassion can positively affect the lives of others. Through this project, participants not only contribute to alleviating the challenges faced by underserved families but also build a foundation for lifelong habits of giving and service.
