This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a preschool collaborative classroom. I have fourteen typically developing students and ten students with special needs: Autistic and Speech Language Impairments. My school is located in a low income community where the majority are Latinos from immigrant families and first generation. Most of my students are English Language Learners. My students are energetic, curious, lovable, and eager to learn. My students enjoy music, books, building, art and learning through play. However, my program lacks many diverse and instructional tools and materials to engage in their specific needs.

My Project

Due to CDC guidelines students will not be able to collaborate and work together. STEM toys will help my students develop critical thinking skills and problem solving; As students engage and focus in building dinosaurs and structures through play in a fun and exciting way.

STEM toys will help my students not only develop critical thinking skills but develop language skills, persistence, fine motor skills, spatial awareness, self-confidence and more.

As their teacher during COVID times, and all these new rules and changes in the classroom. I want to keep them excited and eager to come to school everyday. I want to keep their genius minds curious, growing and eager to learn, with STEM toys it would be a great asset.
