My Students

My students are from the highest of poverty backgrounds. They are not usually exposed to positive learning challenges outside of school. We are a smaller school in a very large school district.

They are in my Gifted and Talented classroom.

They are problem solvers with growth mindsets. When they encounter a problem, they don't stop at "I don't get it." They say, "I don't get it YET." We incorporate STEAM into our class as much as possible to grow our minds and help us develop strategies and new ways to look at challenges!

My Project

These Rubik's Cubes and related books will give my students a hands-on opportunity to employ critical thinking and problem-solving skills to learn more about fractions, geometry, and patterns.

Using the class set of Rubik's Cubes, along with the requested books in the areas of shapes, patterns, and problem-solving will aid my students in the areas of math and applied sciences.

These materials will also aid in stressing a growth mindset, as failure and trial and error are inevitable in learning and growing. This type of mindset is critical in life and in learning. It focuses more on effort than intelligence, leaving no room for plateauing in academics!
