Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative and enjoy having a space to express themselves. They have electives where they explore their artistic sides, but I believe it's essential to integrate art in education. Many of their strengths are shown when they create informational texts like pamphlets & posters.

My students are hard working children, and inspire each other to do better.

My school is a K-8 magnet dedicated to exploration and creating new ways of thinking and ideas. The students are the leaders and the teachers the facilitators. Most have known each other since kindergarten, so there is a strong sense of community and comradery. They are a learning community that deserves the opportunity to aim and achieve with the proper resources. We are surrounded by phenomenal ivy league schools, and I know my students need to feel assured that they too can attend those places of higher education. I am confident that the proper means, they can be the creators of their reality.

My Project

Students will be using the Cricut to create visual presentations and posters for the classroom. I believe art is an essential part of project based learning, and the machine will allow them to easily create fonts and art work that can be glued onto their professional-looking posters. The key word is professional. With high expectations and rigor, they will know that details are important when presenting academic work. They will meet requirements and fulfill projects that will make them proud of their achievements.

The Cricut will be used for at least 5 academic classes this year.

It will also be shared with other teachers in the building that may need to create visual aids to support their students. Please know that your donation will simply go a long way. Teachers share resources, so it is inevitable that other classes will benefit from your donation. You will not only touch the lives of my students but, perhaps of the other K-8 children in this great learning community.
