Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Talk about a diverse community! My students represent various ethnic backgrounds coming from different countries, and different learning styles and needs. My students are special because despite what society perceives them as needs and to be challenged (in language, academic, and social areas); they are the sponge that absorbs learning just like the students I worked with before. They are kids who are excited about life and the world of learning. The only difference is they need something more and different. That's where you come in.
Students I work with are identified as English Language Learners from various ethnic backgrounds; with special needs in grades K-5 in an elementary school in the high-needs area of the Bronx.
My Project
My students and I have been fortunate enough to secure a Cricut machine so we can let our creativeness shine through pieces we design and create, BUT! We are too new to this Cricut world that I didn't realize my students would need tools and supplies to execute their amazing ideas and plans.
Please help us to get basic Cricut tools and supplies so my ELL students, some with special needs can showcase their creative spirit through pieces they design and make.
We are so excited with our machine and can't wait to use it, but WE NEED YOUR HELP in making it a reality. Please help us to get these tools for our students.
The pandemic has stolen almost two years of learning as these students couldn't participate well in a remote learning setting due to their home setting and/or lack of knowledge in technology. With Cricut tools and supplies, my students will learn as I would like to incorporate planning/designing and creating personalized items in my project based instruction. Students and I can collaborate on creating items with school logo and mascot to promote school spirit, which will be a fun learning time for us and WE NEED IT especially during this pandemic! We may even be able to showcase in the school building and my ELLs may no longer be the invisible population in school.
