This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a 7th/8th grade teacher who recently received a classroom Cricut through a DonorsChoose project! My students and I are excited about the myriad of learning opportunities that a Cricut will bring. However, one aspect we did not fully anticipate is the amount of additional materials needed to complete projects with the Cricut.

That is why my students and I are requesting scoring styluses, an engraving blade tip, a silicone heat resistant mat, a foil transfer kit, and a blade/attachment organizer.

My students would benefit from having these tools in our classroom for a myriad of reasons, especially because of our International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Sixth through eighth graders at our school are part of the Middle Years IB Program which is centered on teaching the "whole" child and reinforcing project-based learning and community service. By the end of our program, our 8th graders need to complete a Community Service Project and I believe the Cricut would help them immensely. For example, one group of students wanted to sell t-shirts to help raise money for our school library. Despite creating their own design, our students were unable to pursue this project because they had no means of printing the shirts; a Cricut and its attachments/accessories would have helped them complete their project.

That is why we are requesting materials for our classroom Cricut to help students with their IB community projects, to make items for fundraisers, to make visual arts projects, to make classroom labels and as well as to differentiate learning, create visual aides, and more!
