Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is made up of 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students in a Title I school of approximately 2000 students. It is a school in an urban setting with limited resources.

Our classroom has lost its up-beat feel due to COVID restrictions.

Once, colorful and interactive the room is now void of posters and decorations due to the restrictions touchpoints can create.

My students have been very cooperative and try to stay positive despite the shortcomings a social-distanced, COVID affected environment.

My Project

The "Cricut-Maker" and accompanying tools will allow the students to design signs and posters with positive affirmations made from washable vinyl adhesive. The positive words, signs, and posters will be displayed to promote resiliency during difficult times as well encouraging kindness throughout the classroom and school.

Encouraging kindness and resiliency during difficult times will help promote a positive environment in our virtual and physical classroom and school.

Students will design and share their positive affirmations as part of a community service project to promote social and emotional learning to bring change through small acts of kindness.
