My name is Lizzie Wisdom and I am seeking assistance for our new ceramics program at DIMS in Seattle, Washington. We already have a strong art classroom, and we now have the opportunity to offer the first ceramics-specific class to our 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students in the school year starting in September 2024.
Our students are brilliant, vibrant, and creative and have so many innovative ideas to share, and we want to give them that opportunity.
At our school, we currently have around 715 students enrolled and we are considered a Title I school, meaning over half of our students are identified as belonging to low-income families. Having access to ceramics outside of school is financially burdensome and not realistic for most of our students.
Additionally, providing access to ceramics materials will be expensive and difficult for me as their teacher. Unfortunately, our school and school district do not allocate a budget for purchasing supplies and materials for our art classrooms. As an individual, I am unable to cover all the necessary expenses myself. This is why I am reaching out for support.
Teaching middle school is my passion and I hope to provide our students the opportunity to explore and cultivate their creativity through ceramics, just as I have been fortunate to do.
Any donation, big or small, would make a significant difference in my ability to bring this valuable and important experience to our students. Your contribution would directly impact our students' ability to engage with this valuable art form.
Thank you for considering helping out with this project. It means the world to me!
