My Students
I am a special educator and I teach kindergarten students at a high-poverty school in Brooklyn, NY. It is a brand new school with tons of potential. The school includes students from 3-K to 5th grade. My students are enthusiastic about learning and growing in their education. They thrive during hands-on activities. They are active, kind, talented, and curious students who are developing a love of learning. It is a melting pot of children from all around the world. My goal is to provide them with a rich and fun environment for learning.
My Project
My kindergarten learners are wired to creatively problem solve through inquiry and exploration especially when they have hands on materials. Our classroom is full of makers and creators. We have an area designated as our Maker Space where students can select materials to design and build beyond their wildest imagination. This space is special because it gives children the opportunity for creative time where student voice and student choice shine. An effective STEM classroom fosters a positive culture that allows students to problem-solve, collaborate, create, and build with their hands.
