My Project

“Creativity is contagious, pass it on.” – Albert Einstein

In our Montessori classroom, we give students small group art lessons on targeted skills, then give them the freedom to repeat, explore, be creative, and expand on the concepts.

Students also have the opportunity to beautify "big works" in the classroom and their research.

As a result, it is difficult to plan at the beginning of a year how many supplies we will need, and which we will run out of. The Montessori phrase is we "follow the child" through observation: seeing both what interests them, and what they need both academically and emotionally, and then guiding them through appropriate work.

This year, I continue to follow my students on an art explosion. We have been trying out new art lessons and pushing ourselves with new supplies. Proper supplies elevate the students' work and push the boundaries of what they can create. For these lessons we need watercolor paper, paint sticks, air dry clay, clay tools, and pastels. These materials will open up even more lessons and engage students in creative work.
