My Students

My classes consist of hardworking and motivated students. As a Title I school in NYC, many of my students come from low income families so the necessary supplies needed for instruction in the classroom are often difficult to obtain.

Despite the difficulties they face in their home environments, they still come to school every day, ready to learn and eager as ever to improve their learning.

My students love working together to share what they know with each other and are constantly growing as a learning community.

My Project

My school has such a diverse background of students and as a community, we try our best to allow for creativity and to ensure that all students can feel involved.

Many students are not able to participate in school spirit events because they cannot afford to, parents cannot help them, or students feel like they cannot participate in the school community through creative expressive activities due to their lack of materials and understanding of technology.

My grade team's goal is to make all of our students feel involved and part of the school community. As a member of the culturally-diverse team at my school, I am in part responsible for making all children feel welcome and a valid member of our school. These items would be used to make shirts, posters, projects, name tags, and decorations for the classrooms that the children can design. We want all students to feel included and important while fostering their creativity and expanding on their understanding of technology.

Now that all schools have shifted to a remote at-home learning protocol, children understanding how to use technology is very important and useful. I want the classroom my students enter into every day to be one that they have helped facilitate and design, as well as to ensure that every student can participate in school-wide activities aimed at inclusion despite their financial status.
