My Project

My project aims to enhance the learning experience of students in the Innovation and Design Academy at KHS by providing essential tools for hands-on exploration and creativity. I am requesting a laser engraver and a 3D printer with filaments for my biology and science department students.

These specific items will revolutionize the way students engage with scientific concepts.

With the laser engraver, students can create detailed models and prototypes that illustrate complex biological processes and phenomena. They can customize their projects to reflect the rich cultural heritage of Kauai, connecting scientific principles with local traditions and history in a meaningful way. Additionally, the 3D printer will allow students to bring their ideas to life, fostering innovation and problem-solving skills as they design and produce three-dimensional models that demonstrate their understanding of scientific concepts.

My goals for this project are twofold: Firstly, I aim to provide students with opportunities for hands-on learning and experimentation, enabling them to apply theoretical knowledge in practical and creative ways. By using the laser engraver and 3D printer, students will develop critical thinking skills and deepen their understanding of biology and other scientific disciplines.

Secondly, I seek to cultivate a sense of pride and ownership in our students' work. By incorporating elements of their local culture and heritage into their projects, we aim to empower students to see themselves as active contributors to the scientific community. My students are special because of their passion for creativity and innovation. They possess a deep appreciation for their cultural identity and a curiosity-driven approach to learning that drives them to explore the connections between science and their unique surroundings.

Your support for this project will not only provide my students with valuable resources but also inspire them to become lifelong learners and innovators.
