My Students

This year my district is starting the school year off with distance learning! I teach at a low-income urban school and most of my students are performing below grade-level. Despite this, I am up for the challenge of this new platform and so far we are all thriving!

My students are doing very well with virtual learning, they're trying very hard to learn to navigate the digital world!

They love being competitive at the end of each lesson - they're also great at utilizing teamwork and positive talk when participating in class!

Regardless of the challenges, my class is full of smiles and laughs! Now we just need some supplies to keep them having fun while they learn!

My Project

In this project, I have an assortment of books to help my students in various areas of ELA, with an add on of two books of riddles which we like to do during morning meetings. For ELA, I have books that have different versions of classic stories so we can work on compare and contrast. I also have some books that show women of color who accomplished great things. I have a few books centered around growth-mindset. I also have a few books to help them with creative writing.

Our new ELA curriculum from the district is very focused on writing and my students are struggling a bit - having these creative writing books will help them develop their skills!

I try to make ELA as much fun as possible, but it is their least favorite subject - help me make it more fun and engaging with these books! & help me expand their skills with the variety this list provides!
