My Students

My students are ready to change the world. They come to my school with the love for learning and drive that many other students lose in third grade. These kids are wicked hard working, and most of them are striving for perfection. We sometimes have to remind them them that mistakes are how we learn, because, even though they inner city kids, they will be the group that changes the world.

Proofs and constructions--is that all you remember about geometry?

Our goal is to help the students with the latter of the two. These students are creative among their many other talents. And the compasses we use now break. The students get so frustrated that they can't make "beautiful" art with their compasses because they don't work well. We do some really cool, artistic projects and we want the students to reach their potential. Having the right tools will help with that.

My Project

My students really like to go above and beyond in classwork and projects. Any chance to be creative and artistic, and they go to infinity and beyond.

Using the compasses and straightedges, the students will create a fabulous designs from scratch.

I hope to see beautiful snow flakes, amazing octagons, and the development of some skills to maybe help students to become engineers and artists. There are so few opportunities for students to get hands on with their learning. It also is amazing because the students are doing the exact same techniques that Euclid did thousands of years ago. its pretty cool!
