My Students

My mentoring group is about mentors teaching the mentees how to make it through school and daily life struggles. They meet once a week to talk about what is happening with them. My young ladies are learning how to go through life and daily experiences. Some of my young ladies are struggling at home and school. We are limited as to what we can do with no budget. Our first event showed how creative these girls are individually and as a whole.

My Project

All of the students in my school want to have the opportunity to create and build in a way that is innovative and allows for the most student creativity. Our school does not offer traditional Art classes so within the math classroom and our student advisory groups we incorporate the arts so the girls can have an outlet to show their creativity as well as their expertise in the material of focus in each of these courses. This Cricut machine will allow students to take creativity to the next level with our activities that we work on to build community through our work as an advisory group. This Cricut will allow students to add a additional component to math projects by adding additional features that you do not have access to using a traditional printer.

This project will also allow students to create helpful resources to support their learning like creating custom flash cards, and study essentials to support their learning and retention of material.

This item can also serve the school community as a whole with its ability to create graphics that will support the individualized initiatives of the school like showcasing materials related to anti-bullying, gaining a growth mindset and showcasing the unique accomplishments of women of color to promote positive attributes to our school community.
