My Students

My school community is very diverse. We have students on the autism spectrum, as well as students with other learning disabilities. We have students from low-income housing areas. Some students are identified as gifted and talented. The students at my school are growing up and learning in a community of learners from many different backgrounds. This offers the children amazing opportunities to learn.

My students are very creative!

In order to develop this creativity, I try to stock my classroom with an array of art materials for them to explore. In addition to using many recyclables for projects, my students also enjoy using foam, paper, model magic, and other supplies to create things.

My Project

All kids learn and demonstrate their learning in many different ways. I find that, in a classroom, it's easier for kids to do this when offered a variety of learning materials. Kids also learn best when they are able to be creative and an active part of making meaning of their learning.

My classroom needs a variety of art materials for my kids to use for various learning activities we will complete this school year.

We will be studying New York City and the five boroughs. Kids will be able to learn about and then build landmarks found across the city using model magic. In math, students will be able to create manipulatives and demonstrate equations using different types of paper or popsicle sticks. These materials will offer kids a chance to do hands-on projects that extend their learning.
