My Students

I have the privilege of teaching science to 6th - 8th graders in northwest Washington, D.C. My students love science! We do as many hands-on activities as we can and integrating technology in the classroom exposes them to more content and current issues.

My students are amazing little scientists and nurturing their innate curiosity is the best part of my job.

They enjoy working together as they learn about the world. Videos and interactive labs tend to be their favorite. With the world always evolving, I expose my students to real world scenarios and problems to spark their engineering minds because I know they will be the ones to solve them.

My Project

Many of my students are below grade level and require extended time with content to enhance their understanding of concepts. I try to strengthen their understanding of science by utilizing interactive notebooks, coloring, and color-coding. It really helps them remember things, engage with the content, take a break from computers and build a reference bank to refer back to all year.

Colors and tactile learning strengthen students' understanding and ability to retain information.

Science is more than teaching standards. It is about relating concepts to their circumstances and making it fun. Middle schools love coloring, cutting, creating, pasting, and engaging with what they are learning. These materials will help my students this year and for years to come.
