This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Currently, I am an Interventionist. I help students who are struggling in Reading. Normally, my students have been retained or are working below grade level.

At risk students who need motivation to help them advance in Reading so they succeed academically and socially as well as building self esteem.

My students are from Kindergarten to fifth grade—with special needs like speaking English as a second language or having a learning disability. They need to have intervention in order to be promoted to the next grade or to be retained. So, they are kids that are at risk. They need creative ways of helping them learn and keeping them engaged and motivated.

My Project

During the school year, my students have to periodically complete online assessments, to show their progression throughout the school year. They are to complete assessments online as well as research projects and reading books online. Unfortunately, my classroom does not have any laptops for the student to properly take these assessments and use the computer for research. They will also have to conduct research for book reports and watch the video to improve their verbal skills. There are many online portals that they can use to enrich their reading skills. So, the projects are more of research and are geared to their growth in Reading. Again, I am a Reading Interventionist and the students are all at least 2 years behind in reading. The Cricut will also help keep students engaged through creative activities and help them making creative projects.
