Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Hello! I am a sixth grade ELD teacher at a Title One school in northern California. I have a self contained class of English language learners and in addition to learning state standards and 6th grade skills, my students are also learning English vocabulary and basic communicative skills. I open up my classroom during lunch to my students every day. This gives them an opportunity to interact with one another, play games, socialize, and get to know one another aside from sharing academic tasks. For this reason, I am requesting various crafting materials from models to paint to jewelry beading for these students to make use of during lunch time. I feel that engaging them in creative projects will not only allow them to creatively express themselves, but also encourage them to work cooperatively and build upon their communication and linguistic skills. Please consider our wonderfully diverse group of youngsters! Thank you.
