My students need Art supplies that will include crayons, paint brushes, construction paper, glue, watercolors, multicultural paper, and drying racks for our masterpieces.
Remember creating your first work of art in school that you were truly proud of? Art is a subject that has been removed from our district for several years, at the elementary level, due to budget cuts. My students depend on me and my limited classroom supplies to produce a weekly Art lesson.
I had 20 WONDERFUL second graders.
My students live in an urban setting. Our school is a Title 1 school and a majority of students are on free or reduced lunch. They depend on school for their education and most do not participate in any extra-curricular activities such as band, sports, or art classes.
My Project
I envision using these materials weekly during our Art time as well as in Science, Math, and Writing. We often do not get to do any extra or special projects because we do not have the resources. I want to my lessons to extend beyond our traditional curriculum and focus on higher-level thinking through projects. I want my students to have an art time that is special and creates masterpieces!

My students do not get the art time that they deserve.
I also have students that struggle in traditional subjects. They deserve to feel successful and "let their creative juices flow"!
