My Students

"Hey, I have an idea!" Our classroom is one full of excitement, creativity, and the courage to try new things. Students are always coming up with new ideas to try and love to challenge themselves and each other to do more.

Our school is a progressive elementary school in the heart of the East Village.

My students are inquisitive and curious about each other and the world. They imagine new ways to solve math problems, new stories to write, and new creations to build during Open Work. They are hard-working and persevere until their project is what they imagined, or even better. They work together, share ideas, and inspire others as they work towards their goals.

My Project

Last year, we were fortunate enough to receive a MakerBot 3D printer through Donors Choose. Having iPads will help us further our journey into the 3D making world as students can design and manipulate projects with a child-friendly tool. iPads are also a great tool to differentiate instruction as children can work at their level and at their own speed. With iPads, students will make and edit photo/video projects, design 3D projects, practice math skills, work on literacy and more.

In an ICT classroom, as in all classrooms, it is important that activities and projects be accessible for all of the students.

Having iPads available for children to narrate their writing, listen to stories, play interactive educational games, and work on digital projects will help our classroom continue to be one of inclusion where various learning styles are represented and celebrated.
