Please help us create a comfortable classroom environment that fosters students' reading success and helps them thrive. Many of my students struggle when reading in one way or another. A majority of my students are distracted easily, have a hard time visualizing what they read, and struggle to stay focused which in turn affects their reading comprehension and fluency. I want to create a classroom where each student feels safe and comfortable reading independently which will help improve their fluency as well as comprehension. Using alternative lighting from lamps and hanging lights has shown to help in all of these areas. I am hoping that these additions to our classroom will help create this ideal classroom. I also test students for alternative placement and these changes will help the testing students feel comfortable and focused. Furthermore, we need additional cleaning supplies and materials to create this environment.
My students need additional materials to be able to demonstrate their learning in alternative ways.
I would like to supply these materials in my class so they can demonstrate their understanding by drawing on whiteboards and on paper to share their learning with their peers. I am hoping to get markers, chalk markers, highlighters, colored pencils, pencils, and paper to support all of my students which will help them achieve academic success.
In addition, I would like to reward my students when they show reading improvement. My students want to do well and want to improve their reading but they sometimes need a little push. I think it is very important to use positive reinforcements such as small rewards to help celebrate our students achievements. I would like to reward my students with fidgets and candy when they show focus and improvement when reading. Please help us create our "creative cozy corner.”
