It Is important that students start the school year off right with everything they need to be successful. For many of the students I teach, this includes access to basic items such as notebooks and cups for water. It also means making my classes engaging and fun so I included colorful learning tools such as chalk, window markers, and poster paper to take my students out of their chairs and into the environment. With colorful graphing post-it’s we can explore complex financial and economic concepts anywhere and anytime. When suppling these materials to students I also teach them how to use their resources effectively to learn and achieve their goals. I model and we practice these skills together. One highly effective strategy I teach is organizing notebooks through the use of highlighters and tabs. Students who use effective study strategies are more successful not only in my classes but others as well. Positive feedback and rewards, such as stickers and keychains, helps motivate students when a a little extra nudge is needed. I believe that providing students what they need but may not have at home allows all learners equal access to the education they deserve. Selecting coloring, fun, and interactive materials instills a love of learning and social interaction.
