Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are special because they are full of life and hope. They are happy and energetic despite the area they live in. The neighborhood and school is in a low social economic area. The city doesn't provide many resource for the community, so my students are grateful for anything exciting or new that they experience.

These sixth and fifth grade students are caring and independent.

Throughout the day the you help each other out. They work well independently and in cooperative groups.

My Project

I would like to give my students an opportunity to creative an original piece of art. Usually my students only use colored pencil or crayon when we do art on the sheet of paper. I would like for them to use a canvas, paint, and paint brushes to create a masterpiece.

The project will consist of integrating art with social studies.

I will ask my students to pretend they are an artist during a time era we studied this year. From their new point of view they will create a piece of art that may convey certain themes of that particular time era. I would like to see through my students' art that they understand how people from the past felt. My students will also have to keep in mind the elements of art they learned about throughout this school year.
