Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach Pre-K in a large New York City school. I have 18 students in my class who are incredibly creative and funny. I call them my "smart cookies" because they love to learn. They come from diverse backgrounds and have strong family ties.

Each student is creative and knowledgeable in their own personal way.

They all contribute to the class differently. I like to build a sense of community within my classroom. We learn and grow together. We help each other. The children come from different cultural and economic backgrounds, however, most have good support systems at home. Many of my students at the beginning of the school year are shy and timid. By the end of the school year they are bright, shining stars! The transformation is remarkable.

My Project

We are setting up a brand new Pre-K classroom and are in need of creative materials for the children. We are planning great art projects and creative centers with these listed materials. Unit themed books will help each month to engage the students in the library center and during read alouds. Unit themed boxes will also help the students engage in the specific theme each month. The students will be able to independtly learn as they explore each manipulative. They will be learning while they are having a lot of fun .
