My students need art supplies and a document camera so we can learn about empathy and peace and then create works to be shared with the rest of the school to continue our mission.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from diverse backgrounds and mainly come from low socioeconomic homes. They are motivated to learn and we are fortunate to have many students that are born leaders and use our school community as their forum for peace and kindness.
These students come in to school understanding the hardships that life has to offer at a young age, but are taught with the assistance of our staff that all individuals can overcome even the most difficult challenges with perseverance and determination.
My Project
In our world today, specifically in the past few months, our students have been witnessing some of the most awful hate crimes in the history of the United States. The time has come to move away from social, cultural and gender bias and work toward a more peaceful school community. The education of our youth in social areas, specifically kindness, empathy and peace is pertinent to the development of skills necessary for our students to successfully enter the working world and become productive individuals.
It is our goal to limit the number of conflicts within our building and hope that these new ideals and strategies will flow into our students' personal lives as well.
Art supplies and a document camera will allow me to develop lessons for my visual and kinesthetic learners that are motivational and interesting. My program is a hands-on program which is used to create awareness within the school building. After lessons are taught, the students create murals, agreements, and rules which are prominently displayed throughout the building.
