Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach pre-kindergarten at a small, neighborhood school in Central Florida. Our school is a title one school and the majority of students qualify for free and reduced lunch. We are growing our pre-k program and will be starting our second year.

The majority of our students start pre-k speaking only Spanish and need authentic experiences to foster a love of learning and an introduction to vocabulary in these subject areas.

Our students are like little sponges as they are ready and willing to participate in these new activities!

My Project

Magna-Tiles will be a valuable addition to our block area. Students need various opportunities to problem solve as they build and work cooperatively with their peers.

Children will be able to create and build structures using various geometric shapes.

Children can explore these magnetic shapes as they learn about symmetry, area and perimeter with hands on materials.

Pre-kindergarten children learn best through play. My students will have the opportunity to build and expand their vocabulary as they use their imagination and work together with their friends. Magna-Tiles will be the perfect addition into our STEM program as they combine Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
