Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

This was my first year as a resource teacher. I serve students that need the extra help to be successful in the class. I simply love working with small groups because I get to know all of my students very well. I have been using the intervention piece from the curriculum the school provides. The work that I do with my students is very repetitive. I feel that the students will benefit from more exciting reading comprehension activities. I teach phonics using an excellent program and now I need to supplement my teaching by including reading comprehension. I believe that we need to create critical thinkers and not just citizens who are able to read. Our country's future depends on how well we develop our children. The materials that I would love to use while teaching will help do just so. The fiction/non-fiction reading activity packs are a great way to explore literature and build reading comprehension. Each pack contains one fiction book and one non-fiction book covering the same topic. ..plus reproducible cards with three skill building activities that help students take an in-depth look at the books. Students will be able to get a solid understanding of the difference between fiction and non-fiction, and learn important strategies for each genre. Thank-you for taking the time to read my proposal.
