My Students

I am so excited to be in a new position of teaching students this year who have English as their second language. I will have six one hour classes each day and be serving students ranging from kindergarteners all the way to fifth grade. We are going to have a great deal of fun on our learning journey this year! We have a high percentage living in poverty, and try to make school their safe place where they can learn, grow, and become productive members of society.

My Project

This is my first year teaching English Language Learners and I want to create a comfortable, literacy rich classroom. Some supplies requested will help with printing and classroom organization. Duplicate copies of Dr. Seuss books will allow students to practice reading to one another in pairs. For students that need a little more support, the sets requested that include a book and cd will greatly help learners be more engaged and able to read the words they know, while being exposed to new words they are unfamiliar with.

Providing books and CDs on different reading levels will ensure there is something beneficial for each and every student in my classroom.

This is my first donor's choose project, and I could not be more excited for the opportunity to make my classroom a literacy oasis students can not wait to come to every day!
