Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing, smart, creative and caring. My students walk into my classroom ready to be engaged in learning and excited for the day. They are eager to explore current world issues, and to expand their knowledge of history. They take pride in their efforts and are willing to challenge their minds for the sake of learning.

I teach at a Title I school in the Bronx where 100% of my students receive free lunch.

Many of my students are from Latin American, Caribbean, and African immigrant families. They are very tech savvy and love using technology at school when computer carts are available. Based on a survey I conducted, I discovered that the majority of my middle school students do not have access to a computer or WiFi at home.

My Project

These chrome books will allow my students to have technology readily accessible to them during history lessons. They will be able to analyze documents and connect past events to their current lives . Students will be able to use google classroom resources. They will be prepared to enter high school with a good foundation of research skills using technology . They will be able to collaborate on analyzing pictures, cartoons, quotes and other primary sources. They will have video clips, movie clips and segments of documentaries to watch. Help me to create a fun learning environment and open students eyes to new sites.
