My Students

"Don't underestimate a student's ability to do math."

I teach a group of 25 students with special needs, ranging from 2nd to 5th grade.

My students' disabilities include Autism, ADHD, and many others in between. These students learn in different ways, and paper/pencil tasks do not motivate them. We do a lot of hands-on, interactive learning where the students become a part of the lesson in order to fully understand the concepts and meet all of their IEP goals. All of my students' special needs mean that they need extra help with math.

My Project

I work on specific math skills every day with different students. This means that I am constantly coming up with new ways to differentiate learning for all of my students. The games included in this complete set of Math Activity Stations would help me be able to do this in so many different ways. The games would help reach each child's specific goals and help me differentiate learning for each one of them, even while we are working in smaller groups. These games would also help me work on specific skills that my students need reinforcement in, but aren't working on in class.

Your donations will help me create a math-rich environment for my students, where learning is specific for each child.
