My Project

Because of Hurricane Ian, I have seen increased emotional hurt and decreased resiliency in students in the classroom. They lack focus and the ability to learn from reading. While we are working very hard to improve reading through multiple intervention strategies, Science keeps getting lost or left off the day's plan. I want to generate excitement and active learning in the classroom around the subject of Science. My class does not have Science materials or tools unless I purchase them. I just can't afford to equip my classroom with the tools needed to catch up in making this a first rate, Science learning center. I have consulted with the district Science leaders for a list of the specific materials that are needed to support the approved curriculum and that is what I have requested. My class has taken their first district interim Science assessment for this year and scores were below what I expected or desired. I know it's because Science isn't exciting or interactive for them. I need the materials to turn my classroom back into a learning laboratory so these children can improve STEM enthusiasm and engagement. These materials will make that happen.
