Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am very intentional about my students mental health and well being. I have an office space that I was to transform into a room that does not feel like a public school building classroom. This will allow students to take a moment to fully embrace what they are feeling in order to cope and be successful academically in a classroom setting. Students need a space where they feel comfortable with letting out their emotions and a place that feels like home away from home. These items I have selected will do just that. Nothing warms my heart more than students who enter my room and immediately smile. As a social worker, I want to have a space that students are not scared to come into, doesn't feel cold with that stigma attached, and instead, a space where they are reminded that some days, it is okay to not be okay and together we will work on it.
