My Project

Hello! I'm Ms. Salazar, a dedicated middle school math teacher at a school in Panorama City. My students are incredible young learners, many of whom come from diverse and multicultural backgrounds. They face significant challenges outside of the classroom, yet they demonstrate remarkable resilience and determination every day.

Panorama City is a vibrant, yet underserved community, where many families are dealing with economic hardships and limited access to educational resources.

My classroom reflects the diversity and strength of this community, but it also reveals the struggles that my students face. Many of my students are English learners, or they come from homes where English is not the primary language. Additionally, some students have responsibilities at home that extend beyond their years, making it difficult for them to concentrate and feel comfortable in a traditional classroom setting.

My goal is to create a classroom environment that not only supports my students academically but also emotionally. I firmly believe that when students feel safe, calm, and supported, they can better engage in learning and reach their full potential. To make this possible, I aim to transform our classroom into a welcoming and soothing space. This includes adding comfortable seating, soft lighting, and calming decor—elements specifically chosen to reduce stress and foster a more focused, peaceful learning atmosphere.

Together, we can create a space where every student feels valued, safe, and empowered to succeed.
