My Students

Morning meeting, reading stories, group lessons, and math stations all take place on the floor in the back of our room. Imagine this welcoming area, anchored by a classroom carpet!

Our school enrolls approximately 600 students, grades Pre-K through 5, with 61% of our students on free or reduced price lunch.

That means we narrowly miss title one funding, even though our kids need the additional funds and services. Our students appreciate the extra effort that our dedicated staff puts into their learning.

My Project

A classroom carpet will transform our meeting area into an inviting place to meet for class lessons, small groups, and independent work stations. This carpet has sectioned squares, that allows students to visualize their personal space, in the class meeting space.

This classroom carpet would provide boundaries for children, so they would know their area for lessons, on the carpet.

This would help alleviate arguments over space on the carpet, and thus increase time on task during lessons. My goal is for all students to be learning, and I am always looking for ways to minimize distractions. This carpet would go a long way toward helping children focus during lessons.
