Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are high-school-aged children who volunteer their time after school for various activities. They enjoy sports medicine and oftentimes stay after school to help their fellow students with medical care. These medical magnet students are working hard to gain experience in the medical field and are studying a lot! They take advanced science classes and are some of the hardest working kids at our school! They are constantly helping others and pushing each other to do more to serve our school community.

These students often are leaders among their peers and are ready to lend a helping hand to others!

Their selflessness is inspiring daily and keeps everyone at the school motivated to do more and work as a team!

My Project

Our students need these materials to create a health care simulation center on our school's campus to learn different medical skills. With the introduction of these materials like the otoscope and penlights students will be able to apply their book knowledge and practice evaluating patients' eyes and ears. The project will also enable students to participate in complex simulations to learn cryotherapy skills by providing cryo cups and reusable ice packs. Students will have simulated patients in medical gowns and will be able to practice the skills in a safe, hands on learning environment. The reflex hammers and tuning fork items will allow them to do neurological testing and will reinforce the students' understanding of the neurovascular body systems.

Students will gain knowledge, practice their skills and grow their confidence.

This project will take their learning to the next level and enable them to better serve their community in public service careers.
