See what Mrs. Williams is requestingMy students need adapters to begin a piano lab, boomwhackers to accompany the pianists, and costumes to celebrate the different cultures traditions at our school.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Have you ever had a child ask you to play an instrument, or go see a movie or play that they could not afford? Well the students at my school are low-income based students who have the passion to play instruments and act in various plays to show their cultural backgrounds.
The majority of my school are Pre-K-4th grade students who are on free-lunch due to their parents income.
We have more than 60% of our school learning English as their second language because they only speak Spanish. They are very energetic students who are "wowed" by the simplest things in life like a drum, piano, or getting to get on a bus and go downtown! I often will have a student ask me to teach them how to play the piano, but I cannot because we have keyboards with no adaptors to make them work. They also love to act in plays and programs that we have at school, but we do not have the necessary costumes to help display the different cultures displayed in our programs. Our holiday programs are usually based around the diverse culture here at our school. From Nigeria to Vietnam, we have them all and like to share the rich culture.
I am requesting adapters for 10 keyboards that we have had in our storage closet for 10 years, but cannot be connected without their adapters. We would be able to begin a piano lab where the students can learn piano for FREE and not have to worry about private lessons that are costly. The students can then move onto middle school and become GREAT MUSICIANS! The boomwhackers will add as a beginner tool to the piano for our younger students to start with that will help them learn how to read music and play the correct notes. The boomwhackers are melodic and will help in ear-training so the students can begin to decipher the different note pitches. The costumes will be great in helping us genuinely act out our different parts in our multicultural holiday programs. The students can see different styles of dress from different countries. They will have an understanding of how people dress differently all over the world.
Money is always limited to us yearly on supplies that we can buy for the school.
Being able to have these items donated to us will put a smile on all of our students faces. We would be able to have a piano ensemble that could possibly have recitals for parents or even the community. We would be introducing the arts to an environment of students who are surrounded by negativity and violence daily. Music could be their outlet into a better future.
