Creating Math Independence for Multiplication & Division

Help me give my students the ability to check answers while we are learning to internalize our multiplication and division facts.

My Students

My students come from a small community. We have a little over 400 students in grade prek-5. 100% of our students receive free breakfast and school lunch. Our class sizes are typically smaller than most, and we love to be engaged with hands on activities, centers, and technology enhanced activities.

We love to have fun and our school provides learning experiences inside and outside of school.

Our school also provides rigorous academics, dedicated teachers and a safe learning environment. As a result, we are consistently one of the top-performing schools in the state every year. Our goal is to prepare our students for success in high school and college.

My Project

My students love participating in centers to practice and refine their math skills! We are getting ready to shift our focus from using strategies to give us answers to basic math facts, to developing automaticity. Center time is a busy time, and I want to make sure the time students spend is effective for learning basic math facts.

The math keyboards will allow students to check the answers to problems that they are still learning.

They will also allow differentiation for the students that may still be struggling as we shift our focus to new standards. Students knowledge of basic math facts will continue to grow as we continue to build our math skills.
