A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students come from a wide range of backgrounds. I teach at a Title 1 school where the majority of the students are economically disadvantaged. Many of them are from single-parent families, multiple families living in the same home, and even foster homes.
No matter their background, it is important for me to give my students the best educational experience I possibly can.
Even though my students come from rough backgrounds they truly want to learn and to be challenged academically. Their tenacity for more drives my desire to give them a rigorous education that goes beyond paper and pencil passages.
My Project
My students LOVE science. What do they love even more? Hands-on science activities. STEM activities are a great way to incorporate more project-based learning in my classroom. The greatest gift we can give students during the elementary years is a driving curiosity, a belief in their abilities, a thirst for knowledge, and a passion to grow. With these skills in their toolbox, they will be equipped to tackle the challenges of higher education and the real world. No matter where their life journey takes them.
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and seeks to increase student competency in these areas, as well as interest in future careers in STEM-related fields by studying real-world problems and solving them through project-based learning.
Having a mobile STEM station will make these types of activities more accessible for many students of all levels and abilities. These lessons will also incorporate interest led investigations that provide students with ownership over their learning.
