Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My special education students range in age from 14 to 21 years old. Many of them are non verbal or have communication challenges. They use visuals and symbols to express emotions and needs.

Mural based on Keith Haring’s artwork with symbols of kindness will show case their feelings and emotions.

Our Special needs curriculum includes a component of Social Emotional learning.

Students positive behaviors are rewarded with special art activities and events. Creating a Mural with multiple classrooms working together strengthens peer collaboration and demonstrates their positive attitudes especially in the New Year.
