My students need equipment and supplies to be MORE ACTIVE. We are trying to get them off their phones and on to the playing fields. Help us create healthy and active students at SHS!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Our students live in a low-income neighborhood where physical activity is not high on their to-do list. Many of our students don't have positive outlets to release some of the tension of their everyday, gritty life. Many look to athletics to help them find a group or do something they are passionate about. On our campus, we are always searching for better ways to help them become active and learn how to cope with many of the everyday obstacles that they face. We believe that making sports more readily accessible to our kids is important and many of the items in this project do just that. From our football team, to our baseball team, to girls basketball and soccer, to just kids wanting to run. Every item in this project fills a need for our kids to be equipped to exercise (our tennis team does not have bags or shoes to carry equipment to the practice facility off campus; our female athletes will have proper athletic apparel), compete (our soccer players will have socks and cleats; our runners will also have socks/running shoes), and live healthier lives.
My Project
Healthier and more active students will always be more productive in and out of the classroom. The lessons learned on the playing fields, such as resilience, goal-setting, teamwork, time-management, will enable them to be better life-long learners. Our goal on campus is to create as many opportunities for our students and this project will help us provide necessary equipment/apparel to an already under-funded campus. Every item on this list will help boys and girls of every team available on our campus. Some teams are just getting off their feet and will be competing with old gear or donated items. This project will help in the sustainability and growth of athletic opportunities on our campus. You will be helping girls and boys teams that include baseball, football, soccer, basketball, track, cross country, and tennis.
The following is a list of how your donation will help each program:
The soccer team will be receiving soccer cleats and socks.
The football team will be receiving cleats and socks.
The basketball and cross country teams will be getting socks.
The tennis team will be getting bags, string for rackets, and socks.
The baseball team will be getting bags and socks.
All boys and girls will be receiving aid in obtaining sports bras and compression shorts - many of our students do not have or understand the concept of sports apparel and this donation will help us with this.
