My Students

I teach a group of 25 students with special needs ranging in grades from 2nd-5th grade.

My students' disabilities range from Autism to ADHD and many others in between. These students learn in different ways and paper/pencil tasks do not motivate them. We do a lot of hands on, interactive learning where the students become a part of what they are learning about in order to fully understand the concepts and meet all of their IEP goals. All of my students' special needs mean that they need extra help with math. Because of this, one of the main goals that all of my students (in all grades) are working on this year are math fact fluency in all operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).

My Project

Being as one of the main goals for all of my student is math fact fluency, my students need many different ways to practice these skills. They do daily fact fluency paper/pencil activities, but they need more interactive, "fun" game-like activities to practice these skills so that the math facts can become immediately known. My students need repetition of skills and so having more games to help practice these fact fluency skills (for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) will only strengthen these skills for my students. The games that are in this proposal will allow my students to practice their fact fluency for all operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) and do so in a "fun" way instead of boring paper and pencil tasks.

Your donations will help my students be able to work towards a lot of their IEP and classroom goals by working on their math fact fluency at different levels.
