My Project

My group of 4th graders this year is very unique, in that many of them are very behind in their reading skills. This can make all aspects of school challenging and can inhibit learning as they can be easily frustrated. They are hard workers and want to do their best, for many of them it's just takes a bit more effort.

In effort to keep reading exciting and not become a chore, I've created a wishlist with books they have specifically requested.

My wishlist also includes headphones, to provide access to audiobooks where applicable, and flexible seating to make reading around the room more fun!

My team and I-with support from other staff-are doing all we can to give these students meaningful interventions so they have access to the world of reading. These supplies would help me, help them to open new doors! I also want to have material for my on and above grade level readers so they stay excited about reading too! I have on my list books from the Battle of the Books list that some of them are participating in (which does great things to aide in comprehension), and I'd love them to have access to those in our classroom, rather than just having to hope they're available in the library. Thank you for helping my students grow!
