Creating Calm Through Sound

Help me give my students essential materials for our mindfulness through sound therapy project. We urgently need a safe and compact way to store our singing bowls. Chimes are the last request for our sound therapy orchestra.

My Project

My students have enjoyed experimenting with sound therapy in class and an hour after school music club. However, we are in need of a few additional materials in order to protect the items we have been graciously gifted, and the other instruments that I purchased for the classroom. We are in desperate need of a safe and space-friendly way of storing the singing bowls. The boxes are huge, and we don't have a lot of room in our classroom for six separate boxes. The bags and sleeves would make it more manageable to nest and store in a safe space. The other big item we wanted to add is the set of chimes. These can be played individually or put together to create a relaxing atmosphere. Many students come to my classroom at the end of the day and experiment with sound. They are so into what they are doing they don't realize how fast the time goes! I am a very lucky person to be able to provide special things for my students, and I would like to continue giving them opportunities for self-regulation and to relieve some stress from their hectic lives.

This project has had an extra special bonus - the students in my class who are visually impaired and have increased difficulty playing instruments in the classroom and reading music are able to participate in a much easier and instant way.

The students who are physically disabled love playing these instruments, and it brings them great joy to be able to contribute something new and different to the music classroom. This project has benefitted so many already for so many different reasons - now we just have to get the few missing pieces together.
