Creating Calm: A First-Year Teacher's Math Corner

My Project

My goal for this project is to enhance student engagement and foster a love for learning, especially in math, which can be a challenging subject for many.

My students are working to improve their proficiency, and creating a supportive environment will help them feel more confident in their abilities.

The specific items I’m requesting will create a calming corner in my 7th-grade math classroom, providing essential support for my students, many of whom have ADHD. After long days of sitting for eight hours, these resources—like bouncy ball chairs and calming tools—will help ease their stress and promote focus, making math more accessible.

Providing a calm space will allow them to debrief after lessons, making it easier for them to process what they’ve learned. By fostering a positive atmosphere, I hope to inspire my students to embrace math as a vital skill that lays the foundation for future academic success in high school and beyond.
