This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a first year teacher I passionately believe that my students deserve both dignity and a meaningful education. The majority of the students in my psychology class express a drive and interest to pursue psychology within higher education, however, a bare classroom leaves them disillusioned. I believe that in order for my students to become engaged and motivated within the classroom, they deserve a classroom that captivates both comfort and the culture of academia. In order to create this culture of learning I believe that visual aids such as posters are necessary in order to: foster an environment of academia as well as be used as tools to generate discussion. Another tool I want use in order to encourage classroom engagement is the ability to make clay models of the brain. Some students are kinesthetic learners and I believe that 3D models will help them understand the different areas of the brain. Along with providing an engaging classroom environment, I want to reward students who demonstrate: a good mindset, accountability, team work, engagement, and respect. In order to reinforce these great qualities I would love to reward my students with stickers and croc charms.
