Creating an Effective Robotics Program

Help me give my students an opportunity to create quality Engineering Notebooks to include photographs of the robot, as well pictures and diagrams from Computer Aided Design (CAD) programs. Raspberry pi will aid in hosting VRC tournaments.

My Project

At our school, we are in the process of building our robotics program. We have a group of 8 dedicated and talented students with a passion for STEM, automation and robotics, computer programming, teamwork, and collaboration. Our students have worked diligently throughout the school year to design, build, and program their robots, document their engineering design process, and develop their game strategy to have a competitive edge in the REC tournaments. Their hard work is reflected in the numerous awards they have won at the regional tournament as well as receiving invites to the regional and national championship tournaments. They have also worked diligently to fundraise for materials as well as for expenses for traveling to the national championship tournaments. Having a color printer will allow our teams to create up to date and competitive engineering notebooks that accurate represent the design process through the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) as well as photographs of the robot in various stages of construction. Part of our robotics program is to do our part as a school and a club to make sure there are sufficient regional opportunities for to compete. To that end, we plan to host tournaments next school year at Waianae High School, as we did this year, and the use of raspberry pis would allow us to stream the event information efficiently and reliably at the tournament. We are excited to learn and grow as a club, and this club provides valuable lifelong experience for students in STEM, problem solving, communication and team work, especially as we recover from the effects of COVID-19 and distance learning, which has stifled many of these hands on opportunities for students.
